Lina Schnaufer's third wallpaper collections name Hjärterum translates directly to "heart room" in English. The expression is used in Swedish to describe a space that can accommodate many people in a tight space. At the dinner table, where diners are already seated closely, there is always extra room found for loved ones. We might say about this: good sheep fit many into one fold. "Hjärterum" thus speaks of community warmth, a homely atmosphere, and being together with beloved people.

According to herself, the designer contrasts and blends patterns of city and countryside, mountains and valleys, with a focus on landscapes and vegetation. Let's take a patterned journey through the wild Swedish nature, lichens on granite cliffs, primeval forests, and coastal meadows.
Lina's patterns feature distorted yet clearly recognizable botanical elements. A unique interpretation from the borderlands of fantasy and reality emerges through the designer's personal experience with flowers or plants. According to her, there is always a bit of magic in pattern creation, where something small can be simultaneously quite large, or subtle nuances can affect the overall appearance and mood.

Interpreting the local flora artistically, Lina has created a timeless wallpaper collection that allows for expression in both historical and modern contexts.

Lina Schnaufer is a highly productive illustrator and pattern designer based in Gothenburg. She graduated from the Academy of Design and Crafts (HDK) in 2017 with a degree in design and subsequently started her own company.
