HERDINS JÄRNVITRIOL is a mixture of iron vitriol and silver gray stain powder, which is used for outdoor finishing of untreated wood. Within a few months, the treated wood surface acquires a beautiful natural sun-bleached gray colour due to the cooperation of the sun and moisture. Due to weather conditions, sunlight and other possible factors, the facade may initially be coloured unevenly, but it will become uniform over time. Iron vitriol does not provide protection to the wood surface.

Preparation: Dissolve the contents of a packet of iron vitriol in about 10 liters of hot water. Cost: Depending on the absorbency of the wood, you cover 30-60 m² of wood surface with the solution.

Processing: Apply the solution with a facade brush as evenly as possible to the surface, working the substance into the wood. When applying to a wall, it is recommended to start from the bottom and work your way up to minimize spillage. If necessary, a few drops of washing gel can be added to the aqueous solution to facilitate absorption. Use only stainless steel nails to avoid rust streaks on the facade. Protect surrounding surfaces, e.g. foundation, against splashes. If you treat the wood with iron vitriol before coating it with Herdins Gray Tar Oil, the result will be a deeper, more even gray tone. This is the only way to get rid of the natural yellowing of the wood, which would otherwise shine through the gray tar oil anyway. Use water to clean tools. Contains ferrous sulfate and silver gray stain.
