Combe Court wallpaper features a richly detailed botanical pattern in which winding foliage and delicate flowers form an elegant, symmetrical composition. The design has a painterly depth and a subtle sense of craftsmanship.
The original design was created in the 1890s by John Henry Dearle, William Morris’s long-time collaborator, for the panelled ceiling at Combe Court in Godalming, Surrey. When adapting the design for wallpaper, great care was taken to follow the original brushwork, preserving the character of the hand-painted work.
