Orchard wallpaper features a lively, playful botanical pattern in which small orange trees laden with fruit intertwine with large, winding acanthus leaves. Tiny flowers scattered among the foliage add decorative detail, while the more open composition gives the design a light and airy feel.
The pattern was created by John Henry Dearle in 1899, three years after William Morris’s death. Orchard reflects both Morris’s artistic legacy and Dearle’s emerging individual style, in which natural forms take on a freer and lighter expression.
