Preparations for installing wallpaper

The key prerequisite for successful installation of wallpaper is proper preparation work. Before installing new wallpaper, there are a few things you need to consider. These may also depend on the surface onto which you intend to put the wallpaper. Here you will find information on how to prepare the room for wallpapering and what tools you will need.

Prepare the room for installing wallpaper.

As with any job, preparation is important. Before wallpapering, it may be necessary to level and sand the wall to avoid any imperfections becoming noticeable later. The main thing to remember is that the surface should be dry, flat, and smooth before wallpapering.

First, turn off the electricity in the room. Unscrew the covers of sockets and switches. If possible, also remove the baseboards and wall moldings. Mark the backs of the moldings so you can put them back in the right place later. Remove hooks, curtain rods, etc., from the walls.

Can new wallpaper be applied over old wallpaper?

Yes, it is possible. Simply sand down any uneven areas, such as damages or seams from the old wallpaper, and smooth the walls so that there are no dips or other irregularities when you run your hand over the surface.

All EasyUp wallpapers have an opacity of at least 99%, which means that the patterns and colors of previous wallpaper layers will not be visible.
