Installing wallpaper around an external corner
1
First, raise the panel as usual and match the pattern with the previous panel. Mark the required length at the bottom, then cut the panel to size, leaving at least 10 cm of excess.
2
Measure the distance from the edge of the previous panel to the corner. Add about 20 mm.
3
Cut the panel lengthwise so that you have a strip equal to the width of the previous panel edge to corner distance + 20 mm. (Cut from the left side if wallpapering towards the right, and from the right side if wallpapering towards the left.) Leave excess at the top and bottom edges.
4
Apply adhesive carefully to the wall and corner using a brush and roller. Match the pre-cut strip's pattern with the previous panel's pattern and make a small notch at the top and bottom of the corner to easily turn the strip around the corner and press it into place. Press the strip firmly with your fingers and a wallpaper spatula, and remove any air bubbles.
5
Now, draw a vertical line on the new wall using a spirit level, just like you did when installing the first panel. Draw this line so that it is visible next to the edge of the new adhesive strip. First, apply adhesive to the first strip that the new strip will cover using a brush, then apply adhesive to the wallpaper-less wall with a roller.
6
Now, take the remaining strip of the halved panel and position it to overlap the previous strip by 10-15 mm. Align the strip with the guideline.
7
The strip should be about 5 mm away from the corner, otherwise the wallpaper may tear in the corner. Match the pattern as closely as possible with the pattern of the previous strip (due to overlap, some compromises in accuracy may be necessary here).
8
Wipe off any excess adhesive from the seam and from the floor and ceiling skirting boards with a damp sponge.
