What do the symbols on wallpaper mean?

On our wallpapers, you will find various symbols indicating, among other things, the washability of a particular wallpaper and the matching method of the pattern. But what are these symbols and what do they mean? Here you will find a list of the most common symbols on our wallpapers.

Lightfastness

This symbol means that the wallpaper does not fade quickly in the sunlight. For example, if a picture is hung on a wallpapered wall, it will take a long time before the difference between the wallpaper under the picture and the wallpaper next to it becomes noticeable. If the wallpaper is marked with the symbol "especially lightfast," it is even more resistant to fading than wallpaper that is simply lightfast, which may eventually fade in areas that receive a lot of sunlight.

Below are the symbols that indicate how to match the pattern of your chosen wallpaper. This determines how to place the panels during wallpapering to ensure the pattern is aligned correctly.

Washable

This symbol means that you can wash off glue residues with a wet cloth during wallpapering. The symbol "especially washable" means that you can even wash off glue stains later on.

Quality

This symbol indicates that the wallpaper is easy to remove by soaking it with a wet sponge. This softens the adhesive, making it easier to pull the wallpaper off the wall.

Recommended Adhesives

The STB (Swedish Wallpaper Council) symbol and corresponding adhesive codes are presented on the packaging of adhesives and paste that have been tested and approved by the STB. When the STB symbol and adhesive code on the wallpaper roll match those on the adhesive packaging, it indicates that they can be used together. This ensures compatibility and optimal performance during wallpaper installation.

What is EasyUp wallpaper?

EasyUp wallpaper is non-woven wallpaper, which means that adhesive is applied directly to the wall and then the wallpaper is installed. The seams between panels are neat because the panels are placed next to each other, not overlapping. EasyUp wallpapers are also opaque enough that they can be installed over existing wallpaper without the patterns or colors of the old wallpaper showing through.
